Stardust collectible silver is the project of Tom Schon. This is truly a combination of two of Tom's passions, silver/coins and the Terminator Movie franchise. He was inspired by rarities mint and their movie coins from the 1980s and 90s. He was actually employed their during their run as movie coin pioneers.
Tom was also employed by the Hemdale Film Corporation and his coins are dedicated to John Daly the Executive Producer and one of the founders of Hemdale. (Interesting Hemdale is a combination of David Hemmings and John Daly's surnames... almost exactly like the clever creators of "Pheli Mint"). Hemdale was the production company responsible for bringing the original Terminator movie to life. The terminator franchise is celebrating over 30 year of continued success.
Stardust has released 2 coins so far. They work with some of the main industry leaders to create their rounds. The design and layout is completed by Micheal Berman. The amazing and talented Heidi Wastweet is the sculptor (the woman who created freedom girl one of our all time favourite silver rounds). The rounds are minted in reverse proof by SMI.
The first round is the Terminator T-800 round. It is available in 1 oz size with a mintage of 5000, and a 2 oz size with a 1000 max mintage.
Inscribed on the medallion's reverse is the tagline that launched the movie series: "In the Year of Darkness, 2029, the rulers of this planet devised the ultimate plan. They would reshape the Future by changing the Past. The plan required something that felt no pity. No pain. No fear. Something unstoppable. They created THE TERMINATOR."
Obverse: The Terminator's Endoskeleton Skull is based off the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series T-800 that was sent from in the year 2029 to Los Angeles in 1984 to kill Sarah Connor, the future mother of John Connor, who will one day become a saviour against the AI (artificial intelligence) in a post apocalyptic future. Behind the Skull is depicted the carnage that follows in this machine's path.
Reverse: The tagline that launched the franchise is shown at the top, along with a full length image of The Terminator, an efficient killing machine with a powerful metal endoskeleton, as depicted in the original Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 blueprints in the movie.
The second round released is titled Termintor Genisys-Guardian. At this time it is only available in the 1 oz size with a mintage of 5 000.
Obverse: The battle-damaged GUARDIAN, a reprogrammed Terminator T-800, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the movie Terminator Genisys™, gun firing, blasting the bad guys, is sculpted and colourized on the front of this proof. He “Pops” from the satin field, with mirrored, raised character name GUARDIAN.
Reverse: The reverse of the GUARDIAN is divided into three (3) scenes.
These are beautiful collectible silver rounds that would look great in anyone's collection and especially anyone who is a fan of the Terminator Series (and who isn't).
They are available at many of the main bullion retailers in the USA. We suggest JM Bullion. In Canada TheCoinShoppe has some limited stock.
